Cover of The Unofficial Ballot by Bill Hartzer: a wall split down the middle, blue circuitry on the left and red arrows on the right, cracked apart with a set of balance scales standing in the gap and two torn ballot fragments — one marked with a check, one with an X — on the ground below.

The Unofficial Ballot

Trust, Risk, and Taking Sides in a Divided Era — Bill Hartzer

Silence used to be the safe choice. It is not any more — an organization that says nothing is now read as having said something. The Unofficial Ballot is a working method for deciding, in advance and on the record, which issues you will speak to and which you will not.

Common questions

Ordering and availability

How do I order a Hartzer Press title?

Retail links for each edition are listed on that book’s page, and on the book’s own website where it has one. Booksellers and libraries should order through Ingram; see trade ordering.

Do you accept proposals from new authors?

Yes. Hartzer Press publishes other people’s books, not only its founder’s. We read every proposal that fits the list and reply either way. See publish with us for what to send and where to send it. Send a proposal rather than a finished manuscript.

What subjects do you publish?

AI and search, technical SEO, website development, domain names and DNS, digital marketing, and reputation and risk. If a subject is technical enough that getting it wrong is expensive, and deep enough to need a structure rather than a blog post, it is probably a fit.

Are your books available to libraries?

Yes. Print editions are distributed to the trade through Ingram and are available to library wholesalers on standard terms. Every edition carries its own ISBN registered to Hartzer Press, with BISAC subject codes and complete metadata.

Will there be audiobook and ebook editions?

Yes. Each Hartzer Press title is planned for paperback, hardcover, ebook, and audiobook, with a separate ISBN assigned to each format.
